The Bonus Trap: How to Stay Ahead on Fraudsters Targeting Game Promotions, Loyalty, and Incentives

21 Jan 2026
CC4.1
Cybercrime & Fraud Workshop

Bonuses remain one of the most powerful tools for player acquisition — and one of the most exploited. Behind every free spin or deposit match, organised fraud rings are using automation, synthetic identities, and coordinated botnets to harvest rewards and launder funds. With data-sharing restrictions between jurisdictions, plus inconsistent national cybersecurity frameworks, it makes it even more challenging to track cross-platform abuse. This session unpacks how promotional systems have become the new battleground in iGaming security. It will explore how to identify and prevent bonus abuse through multi-factor player fingerprinting, behavioural analytics, and velocity-based rule engines. The session explores how data correlation across brands — and new interoperability expectations under regulations such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act — can strengthen defences without breaching data privacy or regulatory limits.
