With player protection, identifying addiction and treating gambling-related harm externally, the wellbeing of those working in the industry can often be overlooked. With a focus on building a sustainable gambling industry, should the conversation not also those working to build and grow the industry? Alcohol in particular is a big element of industry networking parties, with conferences for those in recovery a particularly triggering experience, long-working hours and stress the norm, all increasing risk. This session explores what addiction really is for those in the sector, what recovery actually means - not in theory, but real-life experience, the hard work, the healing, the rebuilding, and what the industry can do to support its own. Offering first-hand lived experience stories, this session focuses on the path to creating recovery-friendly spaces in our industry.
