Preventing the Next Generation of Harm: Behavioural Design and Emotional Regulation in Gaming

21 Jan 2026
CC5.2
Safer Gaming Workshop

Explore how gaming products can teach and reinforce self-regulation, awareness, and resilience — embedding risk literacy and emotional control directly into the player journey — both online and in marketing, for example, social media. We’ll examine how responsible gaming tools can evolve into behavioural learning mechanisms, shaping healthy habits. The session also investigates how AI-driven insights and self-assessment dashboards help players recognise emotional and cognitive bias in real time, using mood-state metrics, microbreaks, and adaptive messaging to promote pause, reflection, and control. Drawing from youth digital literacy and behavioural science, we’ll discuss how early interventions — in classrooms and gaming ecosystems alike — can build a generation of players equipped to recognise risk, regulate emotion, and play responsibly.
