Dr. David Pere Martínez Oró
David Pere Martínez Oró holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a postgraduate degree from the University of Amsterdam. He is a researcher specializing in drugs, gambling, and public policies. His professional career combines academic research with applied work in the design, evaluation, and development of social policies related to leisure, consumption, and emerging forms of risk in contemporary societies.
Throughout his career, he has led and contributed to numerous projects exploring drug use and gambling phenomena—both offline and online—from psychosocial and cultural perspectives. His research examines the intersections between digital capitalism, entertainment logics, and the social construction of risk and addiction.
He is the author of Ludomorfina: The Phenomenon of Sports Betting among Spanish Youth (2020), a reference work that blends empirical analysis with critical reflection on the expansion of gambling in today’s society. Author of 15 books and dozens of academic papers.
He currently serves as Director of Episteme Social, where he leads research, evaluation, and knowledge transfer projects aimed at improving public policies. He is also a collaborator of Clarion, working with various institutions and organizations to design prevention strategies and promote a nuanced, non-moralistic understanding of gambling, drugs, and contemporary consumption practices.
